UK House Building Applications Rising

After the first quarter on quarter rise in applications to build new homes in almost two years it appears that the decline in UK house building is beginning to stabilise.  The figures from the National House Building Council (NHBC) show that nearly 18,000 applications were made in the period of February to April this year.  Although these figures are much lower than figures from the same period last year there is some encouragement to be found.

Imtiaz Farookhi, NHBC Chief Executive, said: "While it is still too early to assume that these are definite signs of a recovery, some positive indicators are emerging which suggest that the severe downturn in house-building activity may be beginning to turn a corner.”
